Now that December is quickly approaching it is time to turn your attention to your christmas tree, the secret to the perfect christmas tree is layers and our step by step guide will aid you in creating christmas tree perfection!

Step 1: Choose a Spot to Display Your Tree – Place your tree in a safe place free from fireplaces and heaters. For added security you can secure your tree by using a nylon thread to anchor your tree to the wall.

Step 2: Hang Your Christmas Tree Lights – Lights must be added to your tree before any other decorations. Follow our tips on how best to hang your christmas tree lights

  1. Start at the bottom of the tree, string the lights along the underside of each branch, when you get to the end of the lights loop the lights around the top of the branch.
  2. To add depth to your tree work back to the three trunk, for the upper branches string the lights along the top and work down.

Top Tip: Try not to skimp on lights, we recommend for every vertical foot of your tree you should use a strand of 100 lights.

Step 3: Add Your Christmas Tree Garlands – When it comes to garlands, ribbons or tinsel there are no firm rules when draping your Christmas tree. We recommend you start at the top of the tree and gradually increase the amount of garland as you work down the tree.

Top Tip: Thin, beaded garlands look best hung from branch to branch whereas ribbon and tinsel look best wrapped loosely around the entire tree.

Step 4: Organise Your Baubles and Ornaments – Try to create a theme or a colour pallette then lay all of your decoration out, this way when you start adorning your christmas tree you will find it easier to plan where your decorations will go.

Step 5: Hang Your Ornaments and Baubles – Now for the fun part! Start by hanging your larger more dominant decorations first, space these decorations evenly around your tree. Use small and medium sized decorations to fill in the remaining space.

Top Tip: Don’t forget to hang your decorations close to the tree trunk as this will add depth and interest.

Step 6: Add The Finishing Touches – Finish dressing the tree by adding any clip on or accent decorations and of course every tree needs an angel or star perfectly poised on the top!

With the aid of our foolproof guide to christmas tree perfection you’ll be sure to wow your guests this christmas!
